Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to oversee the shipping and receiving operations at our facility in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial for ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products, managing inventory levels, and supervising a team of shipping and receiving personnel.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or relevant certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A minimum of two years of production line management or equivalent and machine operator.
- A minimum of 2 years of employment management
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to shipping and receiving.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise the shipping and receiving team, providing direction, training, and support.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate expectations, safety protocols, and performance goals.
2. Shipping Operations:
- Oversee all shipping activities, ensuring accurate and timely shipment of products to customers.
- Coordinate with carriers and freight companies to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
3. Receiving Operations:
- Manage the receiving process, ensuring that all incoming shipments are accurately documented and inspected for quality.
- Ensure the proper handling and storage of materials and products upon receipt.
4. Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular audits to ensure stock levels are aligned with business needs.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize discrepancies and losses.
5. Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in shipping and receiving operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and resolve any shipping or receiving issues.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety within the team.
- Conduct safety training and enforce proper handling procedures for materials and equipment.
7. Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain records of shipping and receiving activities, including inventory levels, shipment status, and discrepancies.
- Generate reports for management on shipping and receiving metrics, performance, and issues.
